How to get to the Holiday Lodges
Eagle and Otter Lodges are reached from The South by following the A9 to Inverness and continuing northwards across the Kessock Bridge following the signposts for the A835 Ullapool.
At the entrance to the village of Contin, take the A834 to Strathpeffer.
On reaching Strathpeffer, at the edge of the village a wooden signpost on the left points across the road to Forest Trail, Knocfarrel and Dingwall. Blackmuir Wood is in the same direction. Take this unpaved road up past the Forestry Commission visitors' car park and the ‘curling pond’, both on the right.
Beyond a timber house on the right is the barred track into the forest itself, with the lodge car‐park on the right. The spaces allocated to Eagle and Otter Lodges are at the left hand side near the entrance.
Remember to take a torch if you will be arriving at night as there is very little light. The path to Eagle and Otter is at the far right of the car park. After a few yards it diverges. Take the right hand path down the slope to Otter and the left hand path, past the first lodge to Eagle Lodge.
Eagle Lodge is on the left hand side and Otter lodge is located at the end of the path.
When driving along this country road, please keep your speed down to 10 mph as people and dogs walk along here frequently, on their way into the forest.
The post code for the Lodges is IV14 9BT.
